Ripley: “There Will Be A Lot Of Passion From Me.”

10 July 2016

Oldham Athletic fans can expect a lot of passion from new loan signing Connor Ripley this season.

The 6”3’ goalkeeper, who signed on a season-long loan from Middlesbrough yesterday, admitted he will leave everything on the field for this club.

He said: "There will be a lot of passion from me. Oldham is my team at this moment in time and I’m going to do my upmost for them.

“I’ll be trying my hardest in every game and I can’t wait to get started.

"I’m an all-round goalkeeper. I like to come out for crosses, I like my shot stopping, kicking and all that so I’d like to think I’m an all-round goalkeeper.”

Games are something the goalkeeper needs now at this stage of his career.

He enjoyed a loan spell with Scottish Premier League side Motherwell, where he met manager Steve Robinson, and he wants to kick on and make Latics a base.

“It’s a very interesting journey I’ve been on and I’m looking forward to being here. It’s another step forward in my career and I’m excited,” he explained.

"I’m trying to get as many games under my belt. I’m 23 now and I need to start kicking on in my career and being involved in as many games as possible.”

Huddersfield are the visitors next week in a pre-season friendly, whilst we host Preston North End and Wigan Athletic in home fixtures before the start of the big kick off.

“I know a few people at them clubs so I’m looking forward to playing against them,” he admitted.

“It will be great to get a feel for the ball again and get back into the swing of things so I’m looking forward to playing all the games."
