VACANCY: Full-Time Academy Physiotherapist

Oldham Athletic Football Club is looking to recruit a full-time Academy Physiotherapist to work across the Club’s Academy with ages under 9-18.

The role of the Physiotherapist:
  • To contribute to the success and achievement of the Oldham Athletic Football Club Academy, striving for excellence within the medical department and aiming to provide optimal services to the Club’s footballers.
Assessment, Treatment & Rehabilitation
  • Providing first class assessment, effective treatment and rehabilitation to all injured players at the club. 
  • Ensure the management of injuries effectively meets its commitments to the players, and coaches.
  • To liaise with external medics to ensure the correct assessment and management of all injuries.
  • To accompany players to medical consultations whenever possible.
Pre signing Medicals 
  • Oversee pre-participation medicals of all players including full screening and profiling with full reporting to coaching staff.
  • Ensure cardiac screening and full medical assessment is in place for all medicals. 
Preventative Rehabilitation Strategies 
  • To lead preventative rehabilitation strategies in close liaison with the First Team Club Physiotherapist, Sports Science Department and Oldham Athletic Academy Manager.
  • To monitor the load of players in close collaboration with the Coaches in an attempt to reduce injury risk.
  • Ensure optimisation of fitness for all fit players through provision of daily corrective exercise sessions and pre training routines.
  • Audit the effect of all injury prevention strategies through comprehensive injury surveillance and analysis.
Match Day / Training Emergency Action Plans 
  • To provide physiotherapy support to the team at both home fixtures and away fixtures when necessary.
  • To organise and implement the medical provision for all training sessions and match days.
  • To ensure all medical equipment and procedures are regularly reviewed and maintained at the training ground, training venue and when travelling to away fixtures or training camps

THE PERSON

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following skills and experience:
  • Chartered physiotherapist with HCPC registration.
  • Experience as a Team Physiotherapist in professional sport (minimum 2 years).
  • Excellent academic and applied knowledge of contemporary practice in Physiotherapy & rehabilitation.
  • Excellent Physiotherapy, rehabilitation delivery and planning skills.
  • Full clean driving licence.
  • Strong IT skills and ability to work with a digital online recording tool.
In addition, candidates would ideally need to possess the following:
  • Experience in professional football./PMA Tool
  • Be a member of the ACPSEM – or show an extensive CPD portfolio.
  • Hold or be working towards a relevant post-graduate qualification.
