Manager John Sheridan believed his side were well worthy of a point this afternoon against league leaders Burton Albion.
Latics played out a goalless draw at the Pirelli Stadium but dominated large parts of the game with good possession.
Speaking after the game, Sheridan said: “I think we definitely deserved a point out of the game. There wasn’t too many chances for both sides.
"They hit the bar and we’ve had a few half chances but I thought we looked good as a team. We played against a team who have been scoring goals and beaten lots of teams but we looked compact.
"We knew the importance of getting something from the game, so it’s a point and we’ll take it into the next game. People expected us to get beat but we have shown we are a half decent side.
"We’ve come and got a point against the league leaders so it gets us a little closer to where we want to be. We have a couple of games at home and we know the importance of picking up points.”
One man who missed out was Anthony Gerrard and the manager revealed: “Unfortunately we had to leave him in the hotel. There are a few of our players that have had it.
"Cammy [Dummigan] has had it and when it’s in the same changing room it gets around. He was a miss but I thought the lads that came in were excellent.
"I thought Dummigan was excellent and he wasn’t going to start the game. I was going to play Brian Wilson and Anthony Gerrard, but he came in and I thought he was our best player so full credit to him.”
