Supporters Will Play Massive Part Tomorrow, States Palmer

11 March 2016

On-loan midfielder Matt Palmer believes the supporters can play a massive part in tomorrow’s game against Sheffield United.

Latics had sold 618 advanced tickets ahead of this weekend’s fixture, and fans can now pay on the day for the game and Palmer is hoping they can provide the noise to cheer the lads on to three points.

He said: "I’ve played there once before and it’s a really good atmosphere. They will have a lot of fans and we will bring a few as well so I’m sure it will be a really good game.

“I’m really looking forward to it and I’m sure all the boys in the dressing room look forward to these games because it’s one of the biggest teams in League One.”

Palmer extended his loan with the club until the end of the season at the start of the month and he spoke of his delight to do that.

“I was really happy to do that,” he admitted. “I’ve been playing games and the team has been doing well so hopefully we can keep doing well as a team.

“We need to keep getting the points we have recently and it should be enough to stay up."

Whilst he has put in impressive displays since joining the club, Palmer is yet to get himself on the scoresheet, but that is something he is hoping to change this weekend.

“I hope I can get one,” he said. “I’ve been trying my hardest but it’s just not gone in at the moment.

“As long as we keep picking up the points, it doesn’t matter who gets on the scoresheet.”
