Flynn: “It Was A Really Good Win.”

19 October 2016

Midfielder Ryan Flynn felt his side thoroughly deserved the three points against league leaders Scunthorpe United last night.

Freddie Ladapo and Lee Erwin grabbed the goals to ensure Scunthorpe United fell to their second defeat of the season and he felt Latics fully deserved the win.

He said: "It was a really good win. I think bar the first 10 or 15 minutes we were far the better team throughout and we thoroughly deserved the three points tonight.

“We had to work for the goals and it was very good football as we played right through them and it was two great finishes.

“We spoke about it on Saturday, performances weren’t that bad and goals change games and that’s what happened tonight.

"We’ve got to take this performance into Saturday so we’ll rest up. I thought the fans stuck by us throughout the whole game, even in the first 20 minutes when it was a big edgy for us but we got through that and they definitely helped.”

The midfielder had two chances to add his name to the scoresheet, with his first effort forcing a good save from Joe Anyon.

“I would have liked to get on the scoresheet tonight,” he admitted. “I had two efforts which I put over the crossbar but hopefully I’ll have more.

“I thought we did well in the second half and we were always on the front foot and it could have been more.”

Latics have now played 14 games in the league and Flynn now believes the team are starting to click.

“It took a little bit longer than we had hoped but I think that’s because of the results as I think the performances has been good,” he said.

“It was a good performance tonight and hopefully we can take that into Saturday’s game."
