It’s Only A Matter Of Time Before Our Form Turns Around, States Flynn

4 October 2016

Midfielder Ryan Flynn believes it’s only a matter of time before the club turns around its current form.

After a positive performance against Charlton Athletic seven days ago, Latics were unable to capitalise on that point as they fell to defeat on Saturday against MK Dons.

However, the midfielder believes the club are not far away from turning that form around and becoming a force in the division.

He said: “There has been a lot of change at the club but the league position does make everything look negative at the moment but when you look back at a lot of the games, we’ve been dominating them.

“Tuesday’s game against Charlton Athletic, we came from behind and how we haven’t won that game I do not know and then on Saturday there was nothing in the game but when you’re chasing the game at 2-0 down so it looks a bad performance but when you look back, we were well in it.

“At the start of the season we played Northampton and Walsall who are two good teams and we dominated the two games but the problem is that we’ve not got the points on the board.

“When that is the case it becomes more difficult because you feel like you’re playing catch up but we just need to focus on one game at a time and get back to the basics.

"Bar the Millwall and Swindon games, everything has been really good but we’ve just not got the points on the board. This game is the cup game on Tuesday and that will be different for us.

"Their might be a fear factor with some players but I just can’t see that. If we focus and get the win on Tuesday then we can take that momentum into the league.”

Tonight’s game against Fleetwood Town is a welcome distraction from the league for Latics as they take on the Cod Army in the Checkatrade Trophy.

“Since they have changed manager, Rosler has gone in there and done really well,” Flynn commented.

“I think it will be a tough game and I don’t think they brought many fans to their last game so it’s going to be a strange atmosphere but I think we have to focus on ourselves and make sure we get that win.

“We need to turn our form around and we will do that sooner rather than later.”
