Manager Stephen Robinson admitted his sides first half performance cost them the game yesterday against Rochdale.
Matt Lund scored the only goal of the game on 41 minutes and the manager was critical of his side’s opening 45 minute display.
He said: "The result wasn’t what we obviously set out to achieve. The first half performance cost us and on their first half performance they deserved to win the game.
“We started the game too late, we started the game after they were given a rocket at half time so we ultimately lose the game how we started.
“We came out and played well in the second half for parts of it, created chances but if you don’t score goals then you lose games.”
Goalkeeper Connor Ripley again put in a man of the match performance yesterday but Robinson admitted he needs more from certain players.
"We know what we are getting from Connor and five or six of the players week in, week out. Some of them are up and down like yo-yos but that’s where we are at with them,” he commented.
"We don’t know what performance we are going to get with some of them. Clarkey, Connor Ripley and Greeny lead by example and people have to follow them.”
1,995 Latics fans were in attendance on Saturday and the gaffer paid tribute to them.
“They have been absolutely fantastic today, they sang their hearts out and I don’t know how much backing the lads want from the fans,” he said.
“They were urging them on and having bravery on the ball sees people get behind you so we can only give credit to the fans because they were outstanding.”
