Dummigan: “I Was Delighted To Come Back.”

9 September 2016

Deadline day signing Cameron Dummigan is delighted to be back at SportsDirect.com Park after making the permanent move back to the football club.

The full back enjoyed three loan spells with Latics last season under the stewardship of David Dunn and John Sheridan.

He first made the move in October 2015 and featured in a total of 26 games last season, scoring one goal.

That goal against Peterborough United was his first professional goal in football and when he heard of the interest from manager Stephen Robinson, he jumped at the chance to rejoin the club.

He said: "I didn’t hear about it until the end of the window. As soon as I heard of the interest I just wanted to sign because the football was good here last season.

“It was tough but we got the results we needed to stay in the division so I was delighted to come back.

"They have bought in a few players so it was tough to get in the squad. I wanted to play first team football and Oldham was the one for me really.”

“I’ve seen a couple of results and hopefully we can get the wins to take us further up the league table."

Although it is familiar surroundings for the Northern Ireland under 21 captain, it has been a complete overhaul of players since he was last here.

“There are still a few here for last season and I know a few already,” he commented.

“The lads have already told me it’s a good dressing room and I can’t wait to meet them.”

Chesterfield are the visitors to SportsDirect.com Park tomorrow afternoon and he hopes to be involved.

“It’s the manager’s call really but if I get the nod to play then I’ll be delighted to play,” he said.

Welcome back, Cameron!
