Fane: “I Love To Please The Fans.”

2 September 2016

Defensive midfielder Ousmane Fane has settled well into life at Oldham Athletic after his summer move from National League North side Kidderminster Harriers.

Fane joined for an undisclosed fee last month and has been a regular starter under manager Stephen Robinson.

The Frenchman gave his first interview since his arrival and is grateful for the opportunity given to him by the football club.

He said: “Oldham Athletic is a big club for me. Last year I played in the Conference but now I’m in League One and it’s fantastic and I really like Oldham.

"Kidderminster was a new type of football for me as I needed to learn English football and it was a good experience but League One is a big step for me.

"I’m enjoying my football here and I’m very happy. The football is more stronger, faster and you have to be focused all the game.

“I just try to do my best for Oldham Athletic Football Club, the fans and the gaffer."

Shrewsbury Town are the visitors to SportsDirect.com Park on Saturday and the midfielder admits he fears nobody in this division.

“Every game is a surprise to me but to be fair, I respect League One but I’m not afraid of just playing my football,” he commented.

The supporters have taken to Fane well, and he had a message for them ahead of tomorrow’s game.

“I love to please the fans,” he admitted. “I will do my best this year for Oldham Athletic and I hope we go up maybe."

Whilst fans have made comparisons with world class players, Fane is keen to remind them: “I am not Paul Pogba, I am Ousmane Fane.”
