Midfielder Paul Green wants to put Saturday’s disappointing defeat behind him and get a positive result against Charlton Athletic tonight.
Green, who has been an ever-present in the league this season, admitted the players are down about Saturday’s game against Swindon Town but are determined to put things right tonight against Charlton Athletic tonight.
He said: “The lads are all gutted in the dressing room as well as the manager but we’ve got a big game on Tuesday now against Charlton Athletic.
I try to put my experience across to the lads on and off the field. We have got a good group of lads in the dressing room who stick together.
“The result wasn’t the best for us on Saturday night but we’ve got a game coming around on Tuesday so it could flip around so easily.
“You don’t want to be dwelling on Saturday’s result so it will be a great game against Charlton and we’ll be ready and raring to go."
Whilst it was a disappointing performance against Swindon Town, Green believes that does not make Latics a bad team overnight.
“Look at the performances that we have put in so far, taking away Millwall and Saturday against Swindon, then we have played really well but we are just missing that goalscoring touch at the moment,” he commented.
"We are getting chances, hitting posts, crossbars but it’s just not going in for us. As soon as it drops right then it will turn for us.
“We have just got to keep going, practising on the training pitch and I’m sure it will come right for us."
It’s a long away trip on a Tuesday night for the Athletic supporters and the experienced midfielder is thankful for their support.
“The away support has been fantastic in every away game and they’ve really got behind us,” he said.
“We have put on some real good performances for us, baring Millwall, and hopefully for those travelling supporters going to London we can produce a nice little victory for them."
