Oldham Athletic Community Trust would like to welcome Saddleworth Strikers U11’s to SportsDirect.com Park, who are our JD Williams Team Of The Week for this afternoon’s fixture against Chesterfield.
Here is a little more information about the team:
Saddleworth Strikers is a community football club based in Dobcross, Saddleworth. As a club they employ a modern, child-focussed approach to youth football, challenging the win-at-all-costs mentality that is stifling development and enjoyment for young people.
Working together with a proactive attitude, adults can help develop a better learning environment for young people that puts their needs at the centre of the process.
Football is about fun, making friends, learning, teamwork, sharing the highs, the lows, the hope, the dreams, the failure, and the development of children.
Saddleworth Strikers have 3 age groups – under 8s, 9s and 11s who are all members of the East Manchester Junior Football League, promoting positive play, coaching and support. It’s not about the winning, but the kids’ enjoyment.
Saddleworth Strikers U11’s train Wednesdays 7-8pm at Saddleworth Leisure Centre, Uppermill on one of the all-weather outdoor pitch, with league matches on Saturday mornings.
The squad are coached by Steven Sidgwick, Rob Whetham and Jon Marshall:
