Robinson: “It’s Important We Capitalise On Our Home Games.”

2 September 2016

Manager Stephen Robinson wants to continue the momentum built up from recent good away performances and take it into the upcoming home games.

Robinson’s men took four points from a possible six in the last two league games, and the manager wants to take that form into tomorrow’s league game against Shrewsbury Town.

He said: "I think they are a good team. The boy Dodds who sits in behind is a good player. They have changed their system a few times and they are quite free with it so we have to be well aware of that.

"We need to concentrate on us. We have shown a lot of positives over the last five weeks and I think the focus has to be on us.

“We don’t want to waste what we earned away at Bury and Bradford City and I think it’s important we capitalise on our home games.

“A good crowd came out to see us on Tuesday night and that was fantastic.

“Credit to the fans, as I’ve stated recently, we’re well aware of the amount it costs to come and watch football matches and the support they give the boys, it makes a massive difference.

“Hopefully we’ll have a big crowd in on Saturday and they can get right behind the boys.”

It’s been a busy week for Robinson, especially with the end of the transfer window, and he knows there is still a lot of hard work to come.

“We gave the boys the day off yesterday and I was able to go home and take my lads to school which was nice,” he commented.

“I also went over to meet Cameron Dummigan over in Belfast because he’s with the Northern Ireland squad so now we just need to gel everyone together.

“We need to concentrate on the training pitch and we have a couple of free weeks without Tuesday games and there is a lot of weeks still to be done.

“We have a very good squad who will work very hard and it’s now up to me to gel them together and find a system that works for everybody."

Whilst the transfer window was shut on Wednesday night, Robinson has not ruled out the possibility of adding to his squad with some free agents.

“There are a couple that we are still sniffing after but that’s something we don’t need to rush because we’ve got a squad together now,” he said.

“There are a couple of areas I still think could still be strengthened within our budget but we will keep our eye on things and keep our ears to the ground.

“We get tipped off about a lot of players so we’ll see what happens."
