Robinson: “It’s Two Points Dropped For Us.”

11 September 2016

Manager Stephen Robinson felt it was two points dropped from his side yesterday against Chesterfield.

Billy Mckay smashed the post from the edge of the area in Latics’ best chance of the game at the start of the second half but the manager believed his side should have got all three points.

He said: “It was probably two points dropped for us if we’re being honest.

“I don’t think we played as well as we could do today and we lacked a bit of intensity and the boys know that as well.

“We made changes and the subs made an impact but it wasn’t quite enough and the result was justified for both teams.”

A positive from the game was the clean sheet, something which the gaffer was pleased with.

“The big bonus was that Connor Ripley was outstanding again,” Robinson admitted.

“Peter Clarke and Cameron Burgess were very good and I thought the whole back five were good. We just lacked a bit of zip and spark up front today.

"Our best chances came from set plays which we worked on and the boys did everything to the letter and the goalkeeper has made some good saves so fair play to him.”
