Green: “It Should Be A Good Game.”

7 April 2017

Midfielder Paul Green is expecting a close encounter tomorrow afternoon against Fleetwood Town.

The experienced midfielder has been in fine form since the arrival of John Sheridan in January and is expecting a close game, despite the two sides playing at opposite ends of the table.

He said: "I think it will be edgy at the start but as the game goes on it will open up. It should be a good game because we’ve both got something to play for.

"It’s going to be a good encounter and hopefully we come out with the three points.

"We normally match teams up so it’s man for man. If we get an early goal then we seem to push on and get the three points so hopefully we do that on Saturday as well.

"I’ve really enjoyed it since the new gaffer has come in. I’ve played a different role in certain games but I’ve enjoyed it and if I can help that team move up the league then it’s a good thing for Oldham.”

Results in midweek meant Latics moved up a position in the table. “I did have a little look at the games,” Green admitted.

"You do take in games around you, especially after Saturday’s results. You don’t want to concentrate on other people’s results but they all went for us on Tuesday night.

"It’s all about us and we have a big game on Saturday against Fleetwood. Three points is massive for us and we have good home form at the moment.”

Green spoke highly of the club’s supporters ahead of the game. “When the fans are behind you, it’s massive,” commented Green.

“It was a great atmosphere against Sheffield United so let’s hope we can carry that on into Fleetwood tomorrow.

“The fans have been brilliant all year so hopefully we can give them something to go away with."
