Obadeyi: “We Can Enjoy The Last Game Of The Season.”

28 April 2017

Striker Tope Obadeyi feels his side can play with little pressure on Sunday as Latics finish the season with an away trip to AFC Wimbledon.

Athletic secured a point last week to ensure Sky Bet League One survival for another season and he feels Latics can now express themselves on Sunday.

He said: “We have been playing with a lot of pressure on our shoulders since I’ve been here and we dealt with it well.

“Hopefully we can go down there with less pressure and that can show by the way we play. It will be nice to get one or two on Sunday and round off the season well.”

Obadeyi signed for the club in January and had no doubt at the time that the club wouldn’t survive this season.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed it to be fair,” he admitted. “I came in the club were near the bottom of the league fighting for safety but I’ve come in but I’ve enjoyed myself, enjoyed the company of the boys and training.

"Thankfully we are safe now so we can enjoy the last game of the season. When I came in, it didn’t feel like we were near the bottom.

“The banter with the boys and the gaffer made us feel like we had the ability to get out of the position we were in and we did that thankfully.”

It’s expected to be a party atmosphere in the away end on Sunday and Obadeyi paid tribute to the supporters.

“The fans have been brilliant since I’ve been here and they are going to travel in their numbers so hopefully we can repay their support with a victory,” he said.

“There will be a nice little bit of atmosphere down there and hopefully it will be great for them."
