Oldham Athletic midfielder Aiden O’Neill is enjoying life at SportsDirect.com park.
The Australian, who’s on loan from Burnley has been speaking exclusively to Latics Player HD.
O’Neill said he’s enjoying his time here: “This is what I needed.
“I needed to come away from Burnley and get regular game time in a first team environment and that’s what I’m doing here.
“It’s been a really good experience, every game is completely different and when we play at home, the football changes completely and it’s been a really good experience for me.”
The 19-year-old who returned to the team against Southend United following international duty with Australia’s U23s, has already played in the Premier League.
“At the start of the season I was doing really well and got a few appearances in the Premier League with Burnley and it was a really good experience.
“The football’s a bit different to League One, it’s just all with the ball but it’s different football here and I think that’s what’s going to help me grow.”
He said it was easy to adjust to his new surroundings: “When I came all the lads were very inviting.
“it wasn’t an environment I was scared to come into and go into the team and play.
“It was really comfortable for me to come in and the lads made me feel very welcome which helped me to settle down on the pitch and it’s a pleasure to play.”
With five games to go the midfielder is confident he can have an impact on helping the team stay in the Sky Bet League One.
With three home games left, he also believes the fans can have a big impact too: “The fans can be a twelfth man on the pitch.”
“The fans here have been very good with us so far, always getting behind us and we’ve been doing quite well at home, they can help us get these three games over the line.”
