Sheridan Looking To Build On Good Home Record This Weekend

6 April 2017

Oldham Athletic Manager, John Sheridan is looking to continue the team's excellent home record this weekend when they take on Fleetwood Town.

Since Sheridan’s return Latics have won five, drawn three and lost just one at SportsDirect.com Park.

The gaffer wants to keep up the good record this weekend: “We’re at home and we’ve been strong since I came back.

“The lads have done really well at home so hopefully that’ll continue.”

Fleetwood Town are still in the hunt for an automatic promotion spot and Sheridan has praised his Cod Army counterpart, Uwe Rosler, for the job he’s done: “When I was here last season, they were one of the teams that were in and around us.

“For them to be where they are, and they’ve still got hopes of automatic, still on the tails of Bolton, he’s [Uwe Rosler] done an excellent job.

In the last home game, Latics were held to a 1-1 draw by league leaders Sheffield United after taking the lead through Tope Obadeyi.

The blue’s boss believes the match against Fleetwood will be very similar: “They’ll be coming to a ground where a team is trying to avoid relegation, they're the team that are trying to get promotion so they’ll be coming with the thought that they’re going to win the game.

“Our home record since I’ve come in is not relegation material, I’m expecting us to win the game, we’re at home, I don’t care who we’re playing at home, I always go out with the thought process and try and get it into my players that we’re going to win the game.

“I do appreciate they’re a good team and I’m expecting a really hard game and they’ll come thinking they’re going to win, so it should be a good game.”

Tickets are still available for the game on Saturday, April 8th. Kick off is at 3pm.
