Wilson: “I’m Pleased To Be Here.”

4 August 2017

Goalkeeper Ben Wilson is excited to be part of the John Sheridan’s Oldham Athletic side this season.

The stopper signed today on the eve of the Sky Bet League One season and he cannot wait to get started.

He said: “I’m pleased to be here and be a part of the ongoing project and see where it takes us.

“It’s always hard coming into a new team when you don’t know any faces but the lads have been sound with me from the start and they have been welcoming.

“There are a few characters in the dressing room so you try and mingle as much as you can and training has been fine.”

Wilson will be working with goalkeeper coach Carlo Nash during his time with the club.

“It’s always good when you are working with a goalkeeper coach who has a statue like he’s got,” he commented.

“Carlo likes to work you hard and that’s part of my game. I look forward to training with him and seeing what he is about.

“For the three days that I’ve been here so far, I’ve enjoyed it.”

Latics face Oxford United tomorrow in the opening game of the season and Wilson has high hopes for his side.

“Oxford are a good footballing team from the times I have played them in the past,” he said.

“From what I have seen from our boys, though, we are looking sharp and on our day we can beat anyone.

“Considering where we were in Christmas compared to where we finished, we have got a really good chance this season.”
