Home Advantage Could Be Key States Wilson

9 August 2017

Defender Brian Wilson believes home advantage could be key tonight against Championship side Burton Albion.

Wilson, who played the full 90 minutes against Oxford United on Saturday, said: “You like to win your home games in front of your own fans.

“We picked up a lot of wins at home at the end of last season so we need to follow that up on Wednesday night and build some momentum going into the league campaign.

“Winning games builds confidence and since I’ve been here we’ve not really had a good cup run so it would be nice to go on one.

“I’m sure the chairman would enjoy us getting through the rounds in the cup because it’s beneficial to the club and for the lads.”

The defender knows the threats of the Brewers but has full faith in his team’s own ability.

“They did well last season to stay in the Championship because it’s a tough league,” he commented.

“They have got some good experienced players so I’m sure it will be a tough task for us but we have some good individual players so we can hurt them on the day.”

Two familiar faces to SportsDirect.com Park tonight will be Connor Ripley and Matty Palmer.

“Players move on and go to different clubs all the time,” said Wilson. “Connor did fantastically well and the lads will say hello before the game and wish him all the best in his future but as soon as it kicks off, that will be forgotten about, and we will be looking to win the game.

“Matty is a very good midfielder and he did well on loan with us. They are two good individual players but they are not our players anymore. We are just concentrating on winning our game on Wednesday night.”
