On this day in 1992, Oldham Athletic began their first ever season in England’s newly renamed top flight, the Premier League.

Latics began their campaign against now five-time winners Chelsea.

The game was played in front of 20,699 spectators at Chelsea’s Stamford Bridge and finished 1-1.

Mick Harford had given Chelsea the lead before Latics hero Nick Henry equalised in the 86th minute to the delight of the Oldham fans.

The team sheet that day featured a number of Oldham Athletic legends including Roger Palmer, Ian Marshall and Graeme Sharp.

Chelsea: Dave Beasant, Steve Clarke, Mal Donaghy, Gareth Hall, Paul Elliot, Vinnie Jones, Damian Matthew, Graham Stuart, Andy Townsend, Robert Fleck, Mick Harford.
