Gardner: “I Can’t Wait To Get Out There.”

18 August 2017

Midfielder Dan Gardner is set to make his debut for Oldham Athletic tomorrow.

The former Chesterfield midfielder has had to sit out the opening three games of the season due to a suspension from his time at the Spireites.

He is back in contention tomorrow afternoon and said: “I’m looking forward to making my first appearance, if I’m selected that is.

“It’s been a long time coming but I can’t wait to get out there and help the lads.

“It’s been very frustrating to watch the games. Every game you just want to be on the pitch but I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”

Tomorrow’s visitors Wigan Athletic have had a good start to the season, winning their opening two games and Gardner knows it will be a tough test for his side.

“It will be a very hard game,” he admitted. “They have won their first two games and from what I’ve seen, they look like a really good team.

“Playing a Wigan team is always hard. We’ve not won a game yet so we need to give our all and hopefully we can get the win.”

A good atmosphere is expected inside SportsDirect.com Park tomorrow and Gardner believes the Oldham Athletic fans can make the difference tomorrow.

“The fans will play a massive part tomorrow,” he said. “They have been class since I’ve come in and I saw last season that the away following is unbelievable.

“They were good at Walsall last week and they will play a massive part in tomorrow’s game.”
