Sheridan Hoping To Have More Players Fit For The Weekend

31 August 2017

John Sheridan is hoping to have more players fit and available to him this weekend after a number of injuries.

“There are one or two that might have a chance for Saturday but we’ll give them as long as we can.” Sheridan said.

“We are short but we’ll just carry on, I’ve got to work with what I’ve got and hopefully we can get one or two back on board, it will help us.

“When we’re short through injuries it’s gives people opportunities and the chance to try and get in the team.

“Hopefully, whoever does come in, you want them to play well and hopefully stay in the side.”

This Saturday Latics host Charlton Athletic at SpotsDirect.com Park and the gaffer believes it will be a tough test.

“Charlton are one of my fancies to do well in the division. They’ve got a good footballing manager who did a brilliant job at MK Dons so I think they’ll do well.

“We had a good result against them last season when I came back but they’ve got some good players, it’l be a difficult game.

“Anyone who comes to play us at the moment will see that we’re near the bottom of the league and they’ll fancy playing us at this moment in time.

“I don’t care who we’re playing, I feel as though if we’re on our game and if we can get our act together, we believe that we’re going to win the next game which is Charlton.

“That’s what I want to get our focus on and get the mindset right in thinking we’re not going to lose, we’re going to win.”

Oldham Athletic take on Charlton Athletic on Saturday, September 2 at SportsDirect.com Park, 3pm kick off.
