Manager Richie Wellens is hoping to put a run of results together to propel Oldham Athletic up the Sky Bet League One table.
With the busy Christmas period approaching and five games planned in the space of just over two weeks, the manager hopes a run of positive results will put Latics at the right end of the table.
He said: “It’s important we keep on performing the way we are. We are at that stage now where I want to get ahead of the three or four teams ahead of us.
“It’s slow progress because of where we were but we are playing some good football.
“Because of where we came from, we automatically look down but before January, I want to be as far away from the relegation zone as possible.”
Latics travel to the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday to face Doncaster Rovers, a team which Wellens is very familiar with.
“The next game is the most important game and that is Doncaster,” he commented. “It is important that we put on a performance to try and get us the three points.
“It’s a club I know well and I’ve played with some of their players and manager.
“It’s a good club and it should be a Championship club with the facilities that they have got.
“They will be looking at this playing a team around us so it’s important that we don’t lose the game.
“The form that we are in, and the fact we are scoring goals, we will be trying to get the three points.”
In terms of team news ahead of the game, the manager said: “We have had an illness in the camp.
“There are four or five lads who are struggling. It’s not ideal but hopefully they train tomorrow.”
