New signing Patrick McEleney cannot wait to get started with Oldham Athletic after penning a two-and-a-half year contract with the club.
The forward joins the club from League of Ireland runners-up Dundalk and is delighted to sign for Latics.
He said: “It was an easy decision after I met the manager and I had been around the place.
“The style of play is going to suit me and I’m looking forward to getting started now.
““My first target is to get into the team and then after that I’ll take it from there.
“Getting into the team is the main thing because I can’t just expect to roll up and jump straight in, I need to get myself fit and get myself sharp but I back myself to do well.”
The 25-year-old believes a big factor behind the move was Athletic’s style of play.
“I like to play and I like the way Richie Wellens likes to play, trying to pass the ball and make things happen,” he commented. “That’s what I’ve tried to do back home and fortunately it’s worked for me to get myself here.”
