O’Neill Excited To Show Fans What He Can Do

1 February 2017

Midfielder Aiden O’Neill cannot wait to get started after signing on loan from Burnley on deadline day.

The 18-year-old, who has featured five times for Burnley this season, signed on loan until the end of the season yesterday.

After appearances against Chelsea, Liverpool and Southampton, the midfielder cannot wait to get started with Latics.

He said: “It’s a pleasure to finally get it all done and I’m looking forward to getting involved with the team and doing what I can do and we’ll hopefully stay up in the league.”

The youngster played for more than half an hour at Stamford Bridge and he now wants regular football to progress his own development.

“It’s been a good experience being around the team and getting some appearances under my belt,” he commented.

“The next step for me is getting into a team and playing more regularly and this is a place where I can do this.

“The Premier League is a massive level, so it’s not easy to get into a team and stay.

“This is the next level in my career so hopefully I can help Oldham stay up.”

Whilst Sky Bet League One is somewhat unknown to O’Neill, he is keen to impress the supporters on Saturday should he be selected.

“I know a little bit about the league but not much,” he admitted. “It’s Chesterfield on Saturday so I’m looking forward to that and can’t wait to show the fans what I can do.”
