Sheridan: “It Will Be A Tough Game.”

6 February 2017

A win against MK Dons tomorrow night will take John Sheridan’s Oldham Athletic side out of the Sky Bet League One relegation places.

A win against Chesterfield at the weekend put Latics one point behind Swindon Town who occupy 20th position and a positive result tomorrow night against MK Dons could move Sheridan’s men out of the bottom four.

However, the gaffer knows MK Dons will be a tough test for his players: “They are a good team and it is a nice ground,” he said.

“They have got some good players and they are always in and around the play offs and not so long ago they were in the Championship.

"They are a good team and it will be a tough game. I haven’t got a great record as a manager going there so I’m hoping I can change that.

"We go there and we think we can win the game. I respect MK Dons, if you let them play the way they want, they can give you a lot of problems but we go there in good spirit and have a good go.

"Every game takes care of themselves. If you keep winning you climb the table, you’re not going to drop, so we just go there and try and get something from the game.

"We have two home games coming up afterwards and I knew Chesterfield and MK Dons was going to be tough. We’ve won one of them so let’s try and win the second one.

“Then we go into the two home games with a bit more confidence and when you are at home, you expect to win.”

Anthony Gerrard will miss the game following his sending off on Saturday but the manager has different options to choose from.

“You can play Brian Wilson anywhere and he always does a good job,” Sheridan commented.

“We’ve got young George so whoever I play there and whatever system I play, hopefully they will come in and fill the role.”
