Wilson Praises Manager’s Impact

14 February 2017

Defender Brian Wilson believes manager John Sheridan has had a huge impact on the players since his arrival.

Latics moved out of the relegation places for the first time since September on Saturday and the defender praised the impact of Sheridan.

He said: "The players have responded to him really well and the fans obviously love him. He did a remarkable job last season and he’s carried that on into this season as well.

"He is more relaxed around the place and he takes the pressure off. He is very set in his ways and knows what he wants so the lads have responded well to it.”

Whilst Athletic did move out of the danger zone, Wilson is not getting too carried away yet.

“It’s nice to get out of the relegation zone but there is still 15 games to go yet,” he commented.

“We take it game by game, keep getting them points and we start pushing up the table.”

Charlton Athletic are the visitors tonight and Wilson gave his views ahead of the game.

“They are all tough and there are no easy games in this league,” he said.

“It’s a big game for us but we did well at their place at the start of the season and hopefully we can go one better and get the three points.”
