Youth Team Beat Grimsby Town

6 February 2017

The Oldham Athletic youth team beat Grimsby Town 4-1 at the weekend.

Both Ryan Leonard and Brad Kay grabbed two goals to seal a comfortable win for the youth team.

Speaking about the game, head of academy coaching Simon Cooper said: “I’m very happy because the lads did not let their standards slip on a difficult pitch.

“People played out of position but I thought all the lads performed well. Mason Fallon did a job at centre half and played very well, Jay Sheridan started as well so that’s good for a first year to start, and he did well.

“We knew it was going to be a tough game, they held us for 20 minutes but then we managed to get the opening goal and that opened the game up.

“I thought Brad Kay was outstanding, he’s in great form at the moment and he has a good partnership with Brendy Glackin.

“It was disappointing not to keep a clean sheet but all in all, it’s another a step in the right direction.”
