Oldham Athletic youth team beat Scunthorpe United 3-0 at the weekend to extend their winning run to nine.
Mason Fawns put Athletic into the lead just before half time before two second half goals from Brendy Glackin sealed the win.
Speaking about the game, youth team boss Tony Philliskirk said: “I’m very pleased with the win and the lads are in a good place at the moment.
“It was a difficult pitch to play on and that’s no criticism to anyone because the weather has been poor recently. It was hard work and a grind but we managed to score goals at important times.
“We had to show another side to our game and we have to win games ugly so it’s a good learning curve for the players.
“We were the dominant team for the 90 minutes on Saturday and we could have won by more in the end.
“We have gone from bottom half to second in the league and we have Mansfield, who are top, still to play at home so the lads are in a good place.
“We are under no illusions that it’s going to be tough. We have eight or nine games left but only three are at home so that is going to be difficult.
“We are looking strong at the moment though, and if we don’t pick up any injuries then we will keep putting the pressure on.”
