John Sheridan has bolstered his squad with the signing Aiden O’Neill from Premier League side Burnley on loan until the end of the season, subject to FA clearance.
The 18-year-old midfielder is highly rated at Turf Moor and has been a regular feature in Burnley’s squad this season.
O’Neill has made five appearances for Clarets this season, playing more than half an hour at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea and featuring against Liverpool and Southampton.
Speaking about the loan signing, manager John Sheridan said: “He is a good young footballer and good on the ball.
“Aiden is someone different to what we already have. Hopefully he will get hold of the ball and keep possession of it and it’s a good opportunity for him to come out and play regular first team football.
“He is definitely good enough but hopefully he will come here, enjoy his time with us and help us to stay in the league.”
