Crowd Can Make A Real Difference Tomorrow States Sheridan

23 January 2017

Manager John Sheridan is hoping his players can put on a performance for the fans as a big crowd is expected for tomorrow night’s game against Peterborough United.

Over 8,000 supporters are expected inside SportsDirect.com Park tomorrow evening and the gaffer hopes a decent crowd will encourage his players.

He said: “It’s always better when you’re playing in front of a decent crowd and I can imagine it will be a decent atmosphere if it’s free entry.

“Hopefully they will come and we will give them something to shout about and make sure everyone goes home happy.

“The more supporters who turn up, the better for me. It gives them a chance to see us play and hopefully we can put on a good performance and one or two of them will come back.

“I know that if we start winning games then there will be a lot more supporters here so that’s my aim to try and get them in.”

Sheridan is familiar with tomorrow’s opposition: “Peterborough is a good game for us because they are a good footballing side but I played against them not so long ago with Notts County,” he commented.

"We gave them two good games but I do respect them. They have some good footballers in their side but we are at home and I expect us to get at teams so that’s what we are trying to do tomorrow.

"You’ve got to be looking to win every game at home with the position that we are in. The home form last year was really good so we need another win at home.

"There is a big two games coming up and we are going to try and get six points. I know it’s a big ask especially when you’re near the bottom of the league but we’re hoping that will change.

“We are going to go all out for three points."

The manager added three players to his squad last week and has hinted he may add more before the end of the transfer window.

“I definitely feel that we are unbalanced as a team,” he admitted.

“We don’t have any left footers in the squad so that’s something I’m looking at and hopefully we can put that right as soon as possible.

"There are players who I know that I’d like to get if I can. I’ve got to speak to the chairman but we have got a few players that if we can possibly get out.

“You can’t just keep bringing players in because you have too many players who aren’t playing football so we need to balance things out and hopefully we can do that."
