Striker Courtney Duffus believes manager John Sheridan can get the best out of him after he signed a permanent deal with the club.
The 21-year-old signed a two-year deal with Latics, with the option of a third and he thinks Sheridan is the right mentor for his development.
He said: “I’ve sat down with him a couple of times now and I’m getting a really good feeling from him and I’m hoping he can bring out the best in me.
“I’ve been made very welcome already. It’s a compact feeling and I can’t wait to get started now.”
For fans unfamiliar with the striker, he explained what his game is all about.
“I’m big, strong and quick,” he commented. “I will stretch the play and try and get as many goals as I can.
“I’ve got a rough idea on a target but I’d rather keep that to myself at the moment, though.”
Duffus helped Everton win Premier League 2 last season and he is fully concentrated on settling in well at Oldham Athletic.
“It will be a huge step up for me but that’s what everyone wants to be doing, playing in the first team somewhere,” he said.
“Let’s hope I can take the chance that I get.”
