Accounts & HR Officer Tom Matley completed the Football to Amsterdam challenge over the weekend in support of Prostate Cancer UK.
Tom cycled from Barnsley to Hull on Friday before boarding a ferry to Rotterdam and then cycling the final stretch to Amsterdam on Saturday.
Local company, Cycle Tech provided Tom with a brand new, top of the range, bicycle as well as a professional fitting service to aid him with his ride.
“I found the first day very tough on the legs, the weather was great but it was still a challenge.” Tom said.
“I didn't think I’d be able to get back on the bike for the second day but once I got going, I really enjoyed it.
“We were all doing it for a fantastic cause which really motivated us and spurred us on to get over the line.
“The route through Holland was beautiful, it was a red hot day and I definitely caught the sun.
“I would like to thank everybody who has already sponsored, the support has been amazing.
“I was really proud to represent Oldham Athletic on the challenge, hopefully next year I can lead a bigger following of riders from the club to raise more funds for Prostate Cancer UK.”
So far Tom has raised just over £1,000, there’s still time to donate, to do so please visit www.justgiving.com/oafcf2a and follow the on-screen instructions.
