Erwin Confident Ahead Of Blades Clash

24 March 2017

Striker Lee Erwin is full of confidence after netting four goals in four games and believes Oldham Athletic can beat the league leaders tomorrow afternoon.

Athletic take on Sheffield United tomorrow afternoon (3pm kick off) and Erwin, who has found form, believes the pitch could play into his sides hands.

He said: “Any game is difficult in this division. Look at Sheffield United on Saturday, they are looking to win the league so we know it’s going to be difficult but out there on that park.

"I don’t think they will be up to much and they won’t want to be playing us on there.

"We have had decent form since the new gaffer has come in. Sheffield United like to get the ball down and play but I highly doubt it on that park so it’s going to be a battle.”

Erwin has struck up a partnership with Aaron Amadi-Holloway, who joined the club on a permanent basis in January. “It’s good to have support up there,” Erwin admitted.

“At the start of the season, people thought I was the one who would win the knock ons and be a target man.

“If there are two of us up there then we can be a hassle for defenders so it gives us more support.”

Asked if he was feeling confident for the end of season run in, Erwin replied: “Definitely. We are three points clear currently and we just need to look after ourselves.

“We are confident going into every game that we play and we are confident we can beat the teams who we have to play against.

“It wasn’t going our way until the turn of the year but we’ve started picking up good form and scoring goals so hopefully that continues until the end of the season.”
