Erwin: "I'm Delighted To Get The Three Points & The Winner."

1 March 2017

Striker Lee Erwin felt his side more than deserved the three points against Northampton Town last night.

The on-loan Leeds United man struck the winner in the final minute of the game to seal the victory.

Speaking after the game, Erwin said: "It was good to get on the park, never mind score the winner but it's three points for us and I think the teams around us have won tonight as well so it's good to keep the pressure on.

"We had a few chances in the first half and I don't think they threatened us until the goal. We have had a few chances at the end, Aaron had one, Greeny had one but I think the three points was deserved.

"I'm delighted to get the three points and the winner."

The striker came on as a second half substitute replacing Tope Obadeyi who netted the first goal of the night.

"At the time it was 1-0 when I came on. They came back into the game and we come under a bit of pressure but credit to the gaffer for keeping it attacking," he commented.

"He put me and Taylor on at the same time and we took the game to Northampton so credit has to go to the gaffer. I think he is getting the best out of the players.

"We have looked solid all season but we feel like we've got a bit of edge up front now so it's working well."

Erwin has not featured as much as he probably would have wanted to so far this season but he knows he could be called upon at any time.

"We have a tough run in until the end of the season so everyone will need to play their part," he admitted.
