Green: “We Were Tremendous.”

15 March 2017

Midfielder Paul Green felt Oldham Athletic deserved their win against Oxford United.

Lee Erwin scored both goals in a 2-1 win for Latics and midfielder Green admitted he felt Latics deserved their win.

He said: "I thought we were tremendous this evening. The first goal took a bit of pressure off us.

“The penalty was our own fault with three mistakes leading up up to the goal but we stuck in there, fought and got the win which is the most important thing.

“It has put us in the mix with more teams around us so it’s a massive three points."

Athletic had chances throughout the game and could have even scored more.

“We had some great chances,” Green commented. “Aaron Holloway has been brilliant since he’s been in and he’s just missing them goals to be honest.

"He’s getting in the right positions and I’m sure it will come. He puts in a lot of hard work during the game, he just needs to get a goal now.

“Lee Erwin has come in and got two which he deserved and took well."

The win signalled four points from a possible six available in the last two games and he hopes to build on that form against Peterborough United on Saturday.

“Every game that we play is winnable,” he said. “We go to Peterborough and it’s a massive game but if we get the three points then it could take us to 16th.

“That’s the positive now because we are looking up the league now rather than down so we want to finish as high up the league as possible."
