Nash Praises Ripley Improvement

21 March 2017

Oldham Athletic goalkeeping coach Carlo Nash has praised the improvement Connor Ripley has made during his time at the club.

Latics' number one, who is on loan from Middlesborough, was named in the League One Team of the Season this week.

The 24-year-old has kept 15 clean sheets in the league and 16 in all competitions so far this season.

Talking about Ripley, the goalkeeper coach told Latics Player HD: “He’s a bubbly character, you can hear him from a mile away, he’s great with the lads and at the end of the day he want’s to succeed and he wants to be the best he can be, that’s all you can ask for really as a coach.

“We sat down a couple of times this season and went through things we both feel are areas of improvement and pinpointed a couple of aspects which we work on in training.

“This stage of the season the pitches aren’t great so distribution becomes even more difficult, but we still work on it and it becomes more of a concentration issue, but he’s worked on it and he’s done well, compared to when he first came at the start of the season I think he’s improved massively on that area of his game.”

There are eight games left until the end of the season and Ripley needs just four more clean sheets to break Les Pogliacomi’s record from 2002/03.
