Sheridan Hoping To Carry Form Into Next Season

9 May 2017

Manager John Sheridan believes his side can challenge at the top end of Sky Bet League One next season.

Latics will play their 21st consecutive campaign in Sky Bet League One next season, but the manager is keen to keep the feel good factor going.

He said: "We have got to improve on this season.

"I want us to do better and I want us to be pushing and believe we can get out the league the other way next season.

"That’s my aim for next season and whether I deliver, we will wait and see, but I do believe that with everyones support we can do that.

"The fans have been brilliant all season and I think they have got a bit of belief about them.

"I think the players played with belief and I just hope we carry that on into the forthcoming season."

The manager has been identifying targets since the conclusion of the season and hopes to bring in players with good characters.

"You don’t have to be Arsene Wenger, Jose Mourinho or Jurgen Klopp, if you just have an honest group of players who enjoy playing for you, have a desire and enjoy coming into work everyday then we have a good chance. I really do believe that," he admitted.

Sheridan was speaking at the club's End of Season awards dinner.
