Oldham Athletic Academy Manager Tony Philliskirk has expressed his disappointment at his side's exit from the FA Youth Cup.
The young Latics were knocked out by Bury u18s in a 3-0 defeat last night at SportsDirect.com Park.
On the match, Philliskirk said: “I’m bitterly disappointed, I think in the first 20 minutes there wasn’t a lot in the game, we had a couple of half chances and we kept them in front of us, we looked pretty in patches and kept the ball.
“We identified that Bury were good on the ball and decent on set pieces and we gave two or three silly free kicks away and the third one was an excellent strike.
“We had this earlier in the season, when they go a goal behind it tends to really affects them and it has a negative effect on them.
“I’ve got to hold my hands up and say we were well beaten on the night, Bury had the best two or three players on the night and for me that is the biggest concern.
“The Youth Cup is a bit of a rehearsal for them, playing in front of their families, management and senior staff but I’ve got to be brutally honest and say unfortunately every single one of them failed the audition.”
