Oldham Athletic will be looking to qualify through to the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy tonight.
Latics host Newcastle United u21s at SportsDirect.com Park in the final group stage match of the competition.
Richie Wellens side need just a point from this evening’s fixture to qualify through to the round of 32.
The visitors are a point behind Latics following a win against Crewe Alexandra and defeat at Port Vale.
Peter Beardsley’s side were also beaten 6-0 at Aston Villa last week, and are just one place off the bottom of the Premier League 2’s second tier after four successive defeats.
Oldham Athletic manager Richie Wellens has hinted at making a few chances for tonight’s game with only Gyamfi Keremeh and Ryan McLaughlin unavailable through injury.
On the match, Wellens said: “Some players need a game, we’ve got some good professionals here at the club who have been training properly and have been waiting for an opportunity and deserve a chance to play.”
Kick off is at 7:30pm this evening at SportsDirect.com Park.
