Jeremy Simpson will replace Sebastian Stockbridge in charge of tonight’s Checkatrade Trophy game against Crewe Alexandra.
In his 11 games in charge this season, Simpson has handed out 43 yellow cards and two reds.
Simpson last officiated Latics in the 0-2 defeat to MK Dons last season.
Chris Isherwood and Paul Graham will assist the referee whilst Thomas Kirk will be tonight’s fourth official.
