Oldham Athletic's Youth Team put in an impressive performance to beat Mansfield u18s 2-1.
The young Latics went 2-0 up through a Chinedu Uche brace before Mansfield pulled one back just before the hour mark.
Despite the Stags' efforts to get an equaliser, Latics soaked up the pressure and held on to claim the win.
Speaking about the game, Head of Academy Coaching Simon Cooper said: "It was a fantastic performance. We knew it was going to be a really tough task against Mansfield.
“I know John and the staff and we know the way they set up. They’re very professional and very real to the game the way they play.
“We prepared well, analysis was done well and it came off.
“The last 10 minutes they went 3-4-3, they were playing long balls into our box but the lads held strong.
“We managed the game properly which is something the lads will have to do at first team level so for me those games are absolutely critical in the development of our players.”
