Fane Praises Wellens Impact

17 October 2017

Midfielder Ousmane Fane has praised the impact of interim boss Richie Wellens ahead of the game against Bradford City tonight.

Fane has been an ever-present in the midfield under Wellens and he spoke highly of the interim gaffer.

He said: “It’s very good. He gives a lot of confidence and you can see we play without fear.

“When you make a mistake, he doesn’t shout and I think he can be a really good manager.

“I think he gets the best out of me, but I think I can still improve.”

The midfielder knows he needs to be at the top of his game every week to ensure his starting position.

“There is competition every day and you have to work hard in training,” he commented.

“You have to pay well because there are a lot of midfielders and you have to make sure to to work hard and put a shift in every game.”

Latics travel to the Northern Commercial Stadium this evening to take on an in-form Bradford City side.

“We know Bradford and they are a good team and play in a big stadium but we are going for the win,” he explained.

“It will be a tough game, every game is tough in League One but we will go and play without fear.

“We have a lot of confidence at the moment and hopefully we will get the win.”

Around 1,000 Oldham Athletic supporters are expected to attend this evening.

“The fans are fantastic,” said Fane. “I remember the last game away against Portsmouth, they were fantastic.

“They are very important for the team and hopefully a lot of fans come and we will get the win.”
