Doyle Thriving Under Wellens

On loan forward Eoin Doyle says he is benefitting from Richie Wellens’ attacking style of football.

The Irishman has scored nine goals in nine league games since joining Latics on loan from Preston North End.

Doyle has also formed a natural partnership up front with fellow striker Craig Davies, with the pair of them scoring 16 in all competitions.

On his successful time at the club so far, Doyle said: “Big Dave is banging them in as well, everyone’s doing their bit and providing for us so it’s a very enjoyable team to be in at the minute.

“Richie [Wellens] has instilled confidence in the lads and he’s letting us express ourselves and it seems to be paying off.

“I think they [Bury] maybe thought they’d be doing a bit better than what they are so I’m expecting them to come out and give it a good go and it’ll be a tough game and a derby, they’re always enjoyable games to be in.

“It’s a bit of a derby so the bragging rights are up for grabs, the more supporters turn up the louder they can be so they can be massive help to us.

“I had a good laugh with the supporters when I was trying to catch a train after the game on Saturday at Milton Keynes, I’m enjoying the fame, if that’s what you can call it, at the minute.”

Oldham Athletic take on Bury this evening, Tuesday, October 24 at 7:45pm kick off at SportsDirect.com Park.
