MATCH PREVIEW: Oldham Athletic vs Bury

24 October 2017

Oldham Athletic will be looking to continue their unbeaten run this evening when they take on Bury this evening in Sky Bet League One.

Since Richie Wellens took over, Latics have won four and have drawn two in all competitions.

The home side will be looking to bounce back from conceding two late goals on Saturday against MK Dons which meant Latics only took a point from the trip after being 4-2 up.

The visitors had a miserable trip back from Southend United on Saturday after conceding a late long range goal which denied them anything from the game.

Despite a number of high profile signings in the summer, the Shakers are still yet to win away from home in Sky Bet League One.

Bury have had a number of injuries in recent weeks, Chris Humphrey, Craig Jones and Danny Mayor are back in training. Stephen Dawson and Nathan Cameron are a doubt for tonight’s game.

Eoghan O’Connell and Jay O’Shea have recently returned to the Shakers’ side following injuries and are likely to feature this evening.

Oldham will be without Courtney Duffus who is back in training but is still recovering from illness. Paul Green is back in training but working towards full match fitness.

The game this evening is Richie Wellens first at SportsDirect.com Park since being appointed first team manager on a permanent basis.

On tonight’s match, he said: "We’re in good form, people keep saying to me ‘you’ve picked 11 points up from five games and you’ve not moved anywhere’.

"We’ve not moved anywhere because we were rock bottom of the league and if we didn’t have those points we’d be still rooted to the bottom.

"This is a good chance now, if we can get three points we’ll move four places and then we can start looking to the game ahead.

"Any game in the league isn’t easy. Bury will be coming here thinking the same and they won’t want the gap between us and them to be so big.

"All the hard work that has gone, in the past three or four weeks, in climbing and clawing ourself back to the pack has been done, now this is the chance to edge away from it."

Odds

Oldham Athletic have been priced at 6/5 favourites for tonight’s game against Bury.

The visitors can be found at 9/4 whilst the draw is 12/5.

Eoin Doyle is the favourite to open the scoring this evening at 9/2 whilst to score a brace, the price is 7/1. A hat-trick is 50/1.
