REPORT: Latics Progress Through To Lancashire Senior Cup Quarter Final

5 September 2017

Oldham Athletic progressed through to the quarter final of the Lancashire Senior Cup after a 2-4 win over Everton.

The Toffees took the lead on 17 minutes as Steven Duke-Mackenzie volleyed past goalkeeper Johny Placide from the edge of the box.

Latics did manage to find an equaliser on the half hour mark as youth team full back Tom Hamer fed the ball to Trialist who turned and shot into the bottom corner from inside the penalty area.

Athletic took the lead on the hour mark as Darius Osei's cross found the unmarked Trialist in the centre and he prodded home into an empty goal to notch his second of the game.

Everton found an equaliser with 10 minutes remaining as a cross deceived everybody and went into the back of the net.

However, two minutes later, Latics were back in front. Francois Antoine's darting run into the box saw his first shot saved but he managed to score at the second attempt to put Athletic ahead again.

With minutes remaining, Jay Sheridan added a fourth, converting from close range from Kallum Mantack's low cross.

Latics will now wait to find out who they face in the next round of the competition.
