Oldham Athletic Community Trust would like to welcome Red Star Bengal to SportsDirect.com Park as they are the JD Williams Team Of The Week for this afternoon’s game against Shrewsbury Town.
Red Star Bengal FC (RSBFC) is a community football club that has been providing coaching sessions for junior and youth players for a number of years, predominantly in the Glodwick area of Oldham. The sessions take place every Sunday at Greenhill School and are open to children of all abilities and ethnicities free of charge.
They have over 50 children attending their sessions, ranging from four to 16 year olds with senior players and volunteers, who are FA qualified coaches, providing structured training sessions in a safe and fun environment. These regular sessions have helped develop the kids’ football abilities, skills and have also increased participation of football within the BAME community. .
RSBFC has a proud history of working closely and in partnership with Oldham Athletic Community Trust (OACT). For a number of years, a project was ran in partnership which saw professional coaches provided by OACT support our junior Sunday sessions. These coaching sessions gave players an excellent foundation and gave them the confidence to go on and to represent their school and league teams.
RSBFC have won many community junior and youth tournaments. The club also organises regular inclusive junior, youth, adult & veterans football tournament in order to bring the wider community together, promoting friendship and community cohesion.
