Players Are Playing With Confidence, States McLaughlin

22 September 2017

Winger Ryan McLaughlin believes his side can take confidence from previous games and take that in to this weekend’s game against Rotherham United.

McLaughlin has one goal this season, which came against Walsall, and believes his side can get a positive result tomorrow.

He said: “Rotherham are at home and they are a good team.

“They have only just come down from the Championship and they will be looking to get the win but I feel we can take confidence from previous games.

“We went to Bristol Rovers and beat them so we are confident going into the game and hopefully we can get the win.

“I’m sure it will be a nice pitch and it’s in a nice stadium so hopefully we can come away with the three points.”

Whilst Athletic have only registered one win so far this season, the recent performances have given everyone optimism.

“The mood is a lot better because everyone knows we can compete and we are better than these teams when we are on our game,” McLaughlin admitted.

“It’s just about winning the game and doing simple things which make the biggest difference so we are hoping to change that going into this weekend.

“We are a very confident team now going forward, which is different to last season where we felt like we were keeping a lot of clean sheets but we couldn’t score but now that has changed.

“None of the lads have any doubt at all that we can turn it around and we are confident we can go out there and compete.”
