Doyle: “Hopefully We Can Kick On Now.”

3 April 2018

Striker Eoin Doyle was delighted to net the winning goal against Blackpool yesterday.

The striker headed home in the final five minutes of the game to win the game against the Seasiders.

Speaking after the game, he said: “It was a difficult game but we got the win I thought we deserved.

“We could have scored three or four in the first half by myself but I didn’t manage to nick one and then we kept going and ground it out.

“The little weasel [Jack Byrne] came on, managed to get us back in the game and then to get the winner was nice.

“It’s a big win and results went our way as well so hopefully we can kick on now.”

The striker was unfortunate not to score earlier in the game but he did not let his head go down.

“I have that mentality that when I’m in the right areas, I’m not too worried it too much because one will come along again,” he said.

“That’s what happened because I managed to peel off the goalkeeper and it was a good time for us.”

Latics now face a busy schedule with Saturday, Tuesday encounters until the end of the season.

“There are a lot of games in a short space of time for us so the recovery will be important but we will be right going into Oxford,” he said.

“If we get three points there then it would be a massive win for us.”
