Oldham Athletic are back in home action tomorrow as Blackpool visit Boundary Park in a Sky Bet League One.
Latics head into the game on the back of a defeat following the Good Friday defeat against Wigan Athletic.
A goal either side of half time put the game in Wigan’s favour and just after the hour mark, Nick Powell grabbed their third as Wigan ran out winners.
Athletic are currently in the relegation places, however, a win tomorrow should move them out of danger.
Blackpool currently sit 16th in Sky Bet League One and have picked up 47 points from their 39 games so far this season.
They are without a win since the middle of March after they beat Charlton Athletic 1-0.
The Seasiders suffered defeat on Good Friday as Doncaster Rovers ran out 1-2 winners at Bloomfield Road.
Defender Anthony Gerrard is doubtful whilst Cameron Dummigan will miss the game after being ruled out for the rest of the season.
Speaking ahead of the game, Wellens said: “We’ve got nine games left and we’ve got a few games in hand over teams but our home form is going to be vital.
“Away at Wigan Athletic isn’t going to determine where you finish in the league, it’s the games against AFC Wimbledon, Doncaster Rovers, Blackpool, Southend United and Gillingham at home, they will determine where we finish.
“At times I want us to manage games so much better because we’re got players who are talented and players with a lot of ability but they need to be more resolute.
“The fans were good at Wigan and now we need them at Boundary Park to get behind us and continue their fantastic support.”
Sky Bet have listed Athletic favourites for tomorrow’s game at 11/8 whilst the visitors are 2/1.
